Jobs at Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. Youth Advocate. I worked here for two years and never got a raise. You have a ton of responsibility caring for teens who are often troubled and rude.
No room for growth but flexible. Pros Flexible. Cons Not enough pay. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No. I enjoy working with most of the staff. My immediate supervisor is wonderful. The staff was expected to learn an extremely intensive program remotely. We are no longer able to assist clients in the areas they need help the most. Instead, our sessions with our clients consist of completing numerous FCT checklists of tasks and activities that do not seem to benefit the majority of our clients.
Part-time employees are paid an hourly wage that varies; hours spent with clients is the only way clinicians can make a living wage. Time spent on paperwork, meetings, training, and supervision is not much more than the hourly minimum wage. If your clients cancel, the paychecks are slim. Advancement is rare and the salaries are fixed. The best part of the job is the flexibility to create your own schedule. Pros Freedom to create your own schedule and work independently. Cons Having to learn and use the FCT treatment plan with clients, low pay, very little opportunity for growth within the company.
This is really a part time part time job. There is no way you could really be at 20 hours unless your open all day. The mileage is not worth it unless you have a smart car that runs on energy.

I worked under 2 different directors while I was there and both were great to work for. The staff at both the local and corporate level were friendly, helpful, accessible and supportive. Pros Flexible schedule, culture. Cons None. Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. Terrible turnover and I now now why My peers and I heard many negative things about YAP before giving them a shot. The challenges and issues quickly became clear after working with this company for quite some time.
YAP has new employee training classes going on all the time due to how frequently they lose people. You will spend more time doing paperwork than actually spending time with your clients in most cases. You will get paid a separate much lower wage for your client paperwork and training time. From what I observed, people ended up coming to YAP to pick up paid-for training and certifications and quickly left for jobs that paid more competitive wages and gave much fewer headaches about Medicaid paperwork.
Please consider this as a job of last resort. Pros Job security because people keep leaving, Free training and certifications. Cons Far too much paperwork, May not fully pay you if they don't like how long it took to complete your paperwork. Great mission, employee independence is encouraged. Working with youth and families to help them establish safe and health behavior coping and communication skills. Company culture is inclusive, and goal, initiative driven.
